Genuary#22: Pen plotter ready

Even though there's no "Genuary Police", I feel like cheating again as I didn't write any code for this one. I didn't even get a magic robot machine in the clouds to write me any code.

In stead, for this one, I took a screenshot of the Genuary logo for 2026. (If you haven't checked it out, I can recommend going to genuary.art and clicking the logo at the top so you get see it animated)

With that screenshot in hand I turned to my photo editor and applied a gradient map to turn the black/blue/pink into a white/yellow/orange/darkpurpleish palette. The reason being that a black background takes a loooong time to plot. And I didn't really have that much time.

See, I only came up with the idea of plotting the Genuary logo on my ride into the studio on Thursday morning. And I wanted the card ready that evening. Why so? Well, we had another Creative Coding Amsterdam Meetup. A "Genuary Special" no less! On top of that we were even joined by @piterpasma, the Godfather of Genuary himself! A little thank you seemed fitting, hence the card.

As for the plot, I turned the image into a plottable SVG using my RSTR CMY tool. This turns any image into 3 layers of straight lines for the yellow, magenta and cyan components.

With January coming to an end, so is my Genuary playtime. I've had a lot of fun exploring but also excited to get back with full focus to my other stuff. One of the first things on my list will be to get the new RSTR version out into the world. Stay tuned!!
